Movies in blue are family favorites.
I am the oldest of 5 girls, and so anything designated as “family favorites” are movies/TV shows that I have watched with my 10 year-old sisters on up.
Family Friendly Features (PG or Below)

- Angel in the House
- Angela’s Christmas (Netflix)
- Anne of Green Gables (with Megan Follows)

- Avengers
- The Bishop’s Wife
- This is a Christmas movie.
- The Christmas Candle
- The Christmas Chronicles (Netflix)
- Frozen
- Gunless (This movie is not rated, but I would give it a PG rating.)
- There is one bedroom scene in this film. (The man and woman wake up in bed together. You don’t see anything or hear anything.)

- The Incredibles II
- Inside Out

Musicals

- The 1991 stage version with Bernadette Peters.
- My Fair Lady
- Newsies: The Broadway Musical
- The 2017 stage version.
- Pirates of Penzance

Other Films
- An Unfinished Life (PG-13)
- Going Postal (Not rated. I would give it PG-13)
- Indiana Jones (Original Trilogy, PG-13)
- Iron Man (PG-13)
- The King’s Speech (Rated R for profanity*)
- Profanity is not found throughout the entire film. It is used as an exercise between the king and his speech therapist. This movie, although rated R, is listed here because it has a good message. Because the profanity is contained in once scene, it can easily be skipped if watching with children.
-
The Great Gilly Hopkins (PG)
- Ladyhawke (PG-13)
- Little Boy (PG-13)
- This is one of my favorites. It is not a comedy. It is a heartfelt, tear-jerker story (with a happy ending). I would say it is PG-13 due to the hate/prejudice towards one of the characters in the story. (I don’t recall their being any innuendoes or profanity in it.)
- Maverick (PG) – (1994 American Western comedy)
- While this film is PG, I remember seeing it and thinking it should be PG-13 because of the frequent profanity ad an extended “romance” scene.
- While this film is PG, I remember seeing it and thinking it should be PG-13 because of the frequent profanity ad an extended “romance” scene.
- Men in Black (PG-13)
- The Mighty (PG-13)
- This is another one of my personal favorites. It is a tear-jerker though, so be prepared to cry.
- The Pink Panther (with Steve Martin, PG)
- While this movie is PG, I would be leery of showing it to a child under 13 just because of the number of innuendos.
- Pirates of the Caribbean (PG-13)
- Star Trek (PG-13)
- The 2009 film adaptation.
- Shanghai Noon (PG-13)
- This has quite a few innuendos and adult some profanity, but if you can overlook them, the movie itself is rather funny.
- Taken (PG-13)
- Topic in this movie may be disturbing to some people. This is a movie about sex trafficking and a father who seeks to find his daughter who has been kidnapped by sex traffickers.
- This movie, although a disturbing topic, is listed here because I think it exposes some of the horrors that victims of sex trafficking experience.
